I've decided at last to start littering,
To abandon the bin and the sack,
To let rats through my waste go a-skittering.
Let my blighted land set birds a-twittering.
Their retreat will make the sky black.
I've decided at last to start littering.
Garbage puddles with rain patter-pittering,
Toppling beer cans stack by stack,
To let rats through my waste go a-skittering.
Day by day my life I've been frittering
Away; Dirt, take this cigarette pack!
I've decided at last to start littering.
Chills! I remember, teeth chittering
I once rose with my bin at dawn's crack!
Now let rats through my waste go a-skittering.
And to think of those trucks; I am tittering!
That garbageman with an ache in his back!
I've decided at last to start littering,
To let rats through my waste go a-skittering.
